First of all, this is what’s growing on my windowsill at the moment.
Gorgeous, aren’t they? I just wish it was warm enough to spend time outside now.
But while I’m still indoors, here’s what’s on my needles.
I’ve had some yarn kicking around for a few weeks which I’ve not been sure what to do with. I often do this – buy some yarn that is absolutely beautiful, then spend ages trying to find a pattern that’s special enough for it. In the end I was flicking through Ravelry and I found Evelyn A Clarke’s Swallowtail shawl, which is probably one of the most knitted patterns out there. But looking through some of the projects, you can see why.
My only problem was that my needle was a little too small. I had to go to Loop today in Islington to pick up a longer one, and while I saw queuing, I heard the girl behind the till say to the man in front of me that she recognised him from his book. He was tall, slim and had an American accent, but I didn’t get a good look at his face. I’ve seen a mysterious knitting celebrity … but I haven’t got a clue who he was! I’m going to be checking Brooklyn Tweed and Stephen West’s blog over the next few days.
UPDATE: It was Stephen West! His twitter feed confirms it. Pity he didn’t notice I exist.
